Oliver's Dime Notes

Thu 30th Mar

The Dime Notes play authentic and raucous early jazz, stomp, and swing for listening and dancing.

Since moving to the UK in the summer of 2013, American pianist (and sometime trumpeter) Andrew Oliver has been in demand with many of the city’s top swing bands (Basin Street Brawlers, Old Hat Jazz Band, Graham Hughes’ Sunshine Kings, Benoit Viellefon Orchestra) and has now organized the Dime Notes to feature some of London’s finest early-jazz talent performing his arrangements of classics and lesser known tunes from the treasure trove of early 20th century jazz.

The band plays a range of tunes from Jelly Roll Morton classics to Bennie Moten’s Kansas City-style stomps and Ellington and Goodman style swingers with an emphasis on the groove and excitement of the style.
