Led by drummer Gaspar Sena, with Liam Dunachie on piano and Adam King on double-bass, this trio is a tribute to the classic jazz repertoire but with a different approach. A project put together to take their favourite bits of jazz from the 1950s and 1960s and bring it into the 21st century. Not only do they perform the much loved classics, but also the music from behind the scenes, in the clubs and bars of New Orleans, Chicago and New York. Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Oscar Peterson, Illinois Jacquet, Louis Armstrong and many more, the band capture the sound, sensation, and groove of the era with their own unique interpretation.
Every month the trio will joined by a special invited guest singer or soloist from London’s pool of fantastic musicians. Sara Dowling is a professional singer based in London gifted with immensely emotional vocals, her influences are wide and far-reaching. Her first love was the turning records of her father’s jazz collection, which over the years she has developed her understanding of jazz. She is known for her ‘Smokey Billie Holiday’ style. Her interpretations of classic ballads leaving audiences spell bound as well as the energy and vigour with which she tackles the up tempo standards from the American Song Book.
